Academic Programs & Locations

The main campus of UGA College of Pharmacy is located in Athens, GA. Department of Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy programs in Athens include our two graduate programs, CET and PHSOP, clerkship rotation and clinical practice sites, and residency program sites.

Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics (CET)–The Graduate Program in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics provides graduate training in therapeutics-related research that connects basic science with the clinical practice setting.

Pharmaceutical Health Services, Outcomes, and Policy (PHSOP)–The Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Health Services, Outcomes, and Policy is designed as an interdisciplinary program leading to the Ph.D. degree.

Clerkship Rotations and Clinical Practice Sites–We parter with hospitals and health care systems in the Athens area to provide clinical experiences for Pharm.D. Professional Program students.

  • Augusta

    Augusta is home to our partner Augusta University (AU) offering more than 40 academic programs in medicine, nursing, dentistry and allied health sciences. The Augusta University Medical Center includes a 478-bed hospital, a 154-bed children’s medical center and allied health programs. We also partner with other Augusta area hospitals, including University Hospital, VA Hospital, Doctors Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital.

    Clinical and Administrative Pharmacy programs offered in Augusta include:

    CET Graduate Program
    The Program in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics provides graduate training in therapeutics related research that directly connects the basic science laboratory with the clinical practice setting. As part of UGA’s Biomedical Sciences and Health Initiative it aims to enhance interdisciplinary interactions between the faculty of UGA and AU.

    Pharmacy Practice Residency
    Augusta University (AU) in conjunction with the UGA college of Pharmacy provides a 12-month ASHP accredited pharmacy practice residency. This post graduate experience provides comprehensive training in acute care, ambulatory care, drug information, drug-use policy development, practice management and research.

    Clerkship Rotation and Clinical Practice Sites
    The AU campus serves as the regions primary training site but rotations are available at other pharmacy practice sites in the region offering a variety of advanced practice experiences in hospitals, long-term care, community pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, ambulatory care clinics and others.

  • Albany

    The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy opened its Southwest Georgia Clinical Campus in Albany in Spring 2011.  The new campus provides classroom and student laboratory space for the Doctor of Pharmacy program and the Graduate Certificate Residency Program in South Georgia.

    Pharmacy students can now complete their third and fourth years of training on the Albany campus as part of the College’s 2+2 program which involves spending the first two years of undergraduate training in Athens followed by two years at an alternate site.

    The new Southwest Georgia Clinical campus is within short walking distance of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Augusta University School of Medicine Clinical Campus, and Phoebe Healthworks, a state-of-the-art wellness center.

    Experiential training opportunities with full-time UGA Clinical Faculty are available at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. In addition, there are approximately 70 pharmacist preceptors offering a variety of advanced practice experiences at hospitals, long-term-care facilities, community pharmacies, specialty pharmacies and ambulatory care clinics in Southwest Georgia.

    In addition to a variety of practice experiences, our Residency Program offers a PGY1 Pharmacy Hospital Practice Residency in Albany, with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

  • Savannah

    The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy offers practice experiences at two major health systems in Savannah- Memorial Health University Medical Center and St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System. We also offer pharmacy practice sites at chain and independent community pharmacies and physicians’ offices.

    Outside the Savannah area we have sites at hospitals and in other practice settings in Waycross, Brunswick and Jesup and surrounding communities in Southeast Georgia.

    In addition to a variety of practice experiences, our Residency Program now offers PGY1 Clinical Pharmacy Residency, PGY2 Critical Care Residency, and PGY2 Emergency Medicine Residency in Savannah.
