Arica Barfield Wins 4th Quarter STAR Award

“Arica was chosen because of her exemplary work at the Albany campus, where she is typically referred to as the campus ‘mom.’ She never loses motivation or sight of keeping faculty, students and the campus running smoothly.”

The above was a portion of the message announcing that Arica Barfield, administrative associate at the College of Pharmacy’s Albany campus, was the 2016 4th quarter STAR Staff Award winner. Associated with CoP in Albany since July, 2007, Arica was deemed “a true team player” by one of her nominators, who added, “Arica is always in great spirits.”

Among her many office management responsibilities in Albany, Arica plays an active role in coordinating campus events, including sponsored luncheons, faculty dinners, recognition activities and the ACPE visit. She recently assisted in the successful implementation of the Skills Lab for P3 students, and she stood alongside faculty and students in serving food at a homeless shelter.

Real-life mom to 12-year-old Christopher, a baseball player, and 4-year-old Lauren, an aspiring gymnast, Arica says that receiving the award “was a total surprise!” She added, “It is such a pleasure to work with my faculty and students.” Her family is active in Second Mount Olive Baptist Church. Congratulations, Arica! We are proud of you and your caring, nurturing spirit!
