The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy hosted Convocation for graduates in the B.S. in Pharmaceutical Sciences program with an outstanding keynote speaker and alumnus, Dr. Nirdosh Jagota, Friday, May 12 at 2 pm in the Chu Auditorium of Pharmacy South.

Dr. Jagota is the Vice President of Product Quality and Sciences at Amgen – one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies that transforms new ideas and discoveries into medicines for patients with serious illnesses. 

Prior to joining Amgen in June 2022, Dr. Jagota had 30 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including 22 years in global regulatory and quality management. 

From 2015-21, he served as the Senior Vice President of Regulatory and Compliance at Merck. Dr. Jagota also served as Vice President, Regulatory CMC and Compliance at Genentech/Roche, and prior to that, he was the Vice President of CMC and Compliance at Pfizer. 

Dr. Jagota additionally led CMC regulatory and Quality teams for the submission and approval of more than 25 compounds (NDAs and BLAs) in his career and is a recognized leader in Quality by Design (QbD) for small and large molecules.

Alongside his career accomplishments, Dr. Jagota is actively involved in multiple organizations within the pharmacy community, including Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), Drug Information Association (DIA), and International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). Dr. Jagota has held leadership positions in the regulatory sections for these organizations as well. 

Among his many achievements, Dr. Jagota also is a fellow PharmDawg, earning his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the UGA College of Pharmacy in 1992.
