Dr. Duc Do, PhD, CSAEd, has been named Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, and Dr. Andrew Darley ’12, PharmD, MEd, BCPS, is the new Assistant Dean for Professional Education at UGA’s College of Pharmacy.
In announcing these promotions, Dean Kelly Smith remarked, “We are extremely pleased to elevate these two outstanding leaders at our College. Their depth of experiences and involvement within the College of Pharmacy as well in external pharmacy organizations make them uniquely positioned to accelerate our programs to new heights. Working together, they will advance our academic program beyond excellence. We congratulate them on these new and well-deserved career opportunities.”
Dr. Do joined the College in November 2017 as the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. During his tenure, he has transformed Student Affairs into a professionalized student support unit by implementing a comprehensive range of student services and well-being initiatives. Some of these have included a holistic admissions process, new degree pathways, the establishment of externships, and increased co-curricular programs, all of which earned his department national recognition and praise during the College’s recent accreditation process. Along with these achievements, Dr. Do has maintained strong enrollment in the PharmD program throughout his tenure, while most other colleges of pharmacy have struggled to reach their goals.
In his new and expanded capacity, Dr. Do oversees student services, enrollment, and academic planning across all College of Pharmacy degree programs and extended campuses. He continues to manage and lead the Office of Student Affairs through student success initiatives, enrollment management, academic planning and support, academic advising, and student life. Further, he assures compliance with the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) standards for professional student services.
Dr. Darley began his career at the College of Pharmacy in 2014 as a public service faculty member in the Division of Experience Programs. Since May 2021, he has served as the Director of Professional Education. In this capacity, he enhanced the program’s processes, efficiency, and collaboration, including developing a new curriculum review process, managing ongoing reviews, establishing an advisory group of programmatic leaders, coordinating and supporting PharmD program quality improvement initiatives, and implementing a new progression and remediation policy. Currently, he is enrolled in the Doctor of Education degree program at the UGA McBee Institute of Higher Education, focusing on administrative perspectives on best practices in pharmacy curriculum change leadership.
In his new role, Dr. Darley has authority and expanded administrative responsibility as the Doctor of Pharmacy’s Chief Curricular Officer and Academic Program Coordinator. Among his early charges, he will initiate a revision to the PharmD program’s curriculum.
