Congratulations to Dr. Eileen Kennedy, Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences, who is the new Dr. Samuel C. Benedict Professor at the College of Pharmacy. The inaugural recipient, Dr. Kennedy was honored at a reception held Wednesday and is shown at right with Dr. Brian Cummings, Department Head for PBS and Dean Kelly Smith. Recognizing individuals at early stages in their career with significant accomplishments, the Benedict Professorship is designated for an Associate Professor who has shown significant achievements in obtaining long-term extramural grant funding. Besides being an outstanding teacher of College of Pharmacy students, Dr. Kennedy has published 41 peer reviewed manuscripts and obtained four grants from nationally recognized extramural organizations. She focuses her research on the development of alpha-helical stapled peptides for targeting difficult to “un-druggable” targets. Kudos, Dr. Kennedy!
