We are saddened to share the passing of retired faculty member Dr. Charles ‘DeWitt’ Blanton, Jr. at the age of 85. Dr. Blanton spent his professional career at CoP as a medicinal chemist who devoted his career to research on malaria, leukemia, and other human diseases. He was passionate about teaching his students and researchers who were committed to finding cures to help others. The 1982 Georgia Pharmacist Magazine was dedicated to Dr. Blanton, in which the editor wrote, “Dr. Blanton will long be remembered for his warm, kind, and personal way of teaching us information that will be used by us the rest of our lives. Dr. Blanton always had time for our questions and always welcomed us into his office in a very personal way. Indeed, he is a very special professor.” Read his obituary.
