In a 24-hour show of generosity, PharmDawg alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students, families, and friends gave more than 170 gifts, and over $17,000 to support Pharmacy scholarships, research, student programs and more, setting a single day record for gifts and dollars raised for the College of Pharmacy on Dawg Day of Giving. This year’s total number of gifts was a 60% increase since Dawg Day of Giving started in 2022.
More than $7,000 donated was in support of the College’s Postgraduate Career Support Fund, which helps students cover such expenses as graduate school applications and NAPLEX or MPJE exam fees. “Postgraduate career planning expenses quickly add up, making donations to this fund crucial in helping to ease the financial challenges faced by many graduates as they plan for their futures,” said Kate O’Reilly, CoP Director of Development. “This year alone, students have requested almost $20,000 in funding, so the amount raised—along with current available funding—will go a long way in making postgraduate planning more affordable.
“To those who contributed, we thank you for making Dawg Day of Giving 2024 a day to remember,” O’Reilly added. “Your generosity is evidence that when we all come together to support a common cause, the impact of gifts—big or small—is monumental.”
