Stanley Otiwu Receives Walmart Health Equity Scholarship

Congratulations to Stanley Otiwu, a 2023 PharmD candidate, for receiving the Walmart Health Equity Scholarship for Pharmacy Students! Recipients are selected based on a demonstration of “…leadership, academic success, and a commitment to serving rural or medically underserved patient populations…” and receive a $5,000 scholarship! Stanley is a national committee member of ASHP’s Residency Preparation Advisory Group. He has previously served as an executive board member of BSPO, SNPhA, and PLS. Stanley also has experience as a student ambassador, student mentor, and a student representative on the College of Pharmacy’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. “This honor means more than I could put into words. For me, this scholarship serves as proof that an intentional focus on health equity for underserved populations deserves to be celebrated and recognized,” he said.“For my family, this scholarship means much more. As a first generation American, this scholarship represents return on the investment my parents made when they immigrated from Nigeria all those years ago.  After all the struggles my family has made to support me, it is gratifying for them to see others invest in my dreams and ambitions.”We are so proud of you, Stanley!
