Feb. 9th, Hybrid Environment

(Athens, Ga.) The 2023 William T. Robie III Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Lecture and Award will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, from 12:30-1:20 pm in the auditorium of the R.C. Wilson Building at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. A Zoom option will be available for those interested in participating in the program virtually.

Named in honor of William T. Robie III ‘70, the first African American student and graduate from the College of Pharmacy, the third annual event has as its theme, “Advancing the Agenda of Hope.”  The public, including the university community, is invited to attend. Lunch will be provided immediately following the program for registered attendees.

The keynote speaker for the lecture will be Christy Norman ‘06, PharmD, MS, BCPS, who was the 2022 recipient of the William T. Robie III Award. Norman currently is the Vice President of Pharmacy Services at Emory Healthcare and served as president of the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists last year.

Along with Norman’s keynote message, the recipient of this year’s William T. Robie III Award will be recognized. Tierra Jackson, a 2023 candidate for graduation from UGA’s Doctor of Pharmacy program, is engaged in numerous university and College of Pharmacy activities and currently serves as the national president of the Student National Pharmacy Association. Jackson’s additional accomplishments include receiving the 2022 Association of Black Health-System Pharmacists Student Achievement Award, serving on the National Student Advisory Committee for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ Pharmacy Student Forum, co-founding the Black Student Pharmacy Organization at UGA, among other achievements.

During the program, Mr. Robie, who celebrated a 34-year career with Kroger Pharmacy before his retirement in 2015, will briefly share his experiences while he was a student at UGA.

The William T. Robie III Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Lecture and Award was founded in 2021 following UGA’s celebration of the 60th anniversary of desegregation at UGA.  To register for the program and lunch, see Robie Lecture and Award.  The deadline for registration is Feb. 6. A Zoom link will be provided by Feb. 6 for individuals attending virtually.
