Tierra Jackson Captures National Recognition at ASHP

You’ve heard the slogan, “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas,” right?  PharmDawgs, this is not staying in Vegas.  We’re spreading this great news all over the College, UGA, and the State of Georgia!

Tierra Jackson, a fourth-year PharmD student from Statesboro, was awarded the 2022 Association of Black Health-System Pharmacists (ABHP) Student Achievement Award at the ASHP Midyear meeting held last week in Las Vegas. Tierra was nominated by Christy Forehand ’10, a Critical Care Pharmacist in the Medical ICU at Augusta University Medical Center, a CoP Adjunct Assistant Professor, and Tierra’s mentor, who commented, “Tierra’s leadership and outstanding academic achievements have gained her many honors, awards, and accolades, including the UGA Black Faculty and Staff Organization’s Professional Founders Award, the inaugural UGA First Award for a Professional Student, the UGA College of Pharmacy 60 at 60 Diversity and Inclusion Honoree, ​​the Dr. H.W. Ted Matthews Endowed Scholarship, among others. I am thrilled that she can add the 2022 ABHP Student Achievement Award to this growing list of accomplishments.” Tierra currently serves as the National President of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA), in which she supports more than 5000 student pharmacists across the nation in working with underserved communities. She also serves on the National Student Advisory Committee for ASHP’s Pharmacy Student Forum. Back home, she was a co-founder and vice president of the Black Student Pharmacists Organization, program coordinator for the American Pharmacists Association – Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP), a College of Pharmacy student ambassador, and a spring 2021 inductee of Phi Lambda Sigma (PLS) During her undergraduate career at UGA, she was committed to service through such roles as President of the Pre-Pharmacy Society, Vice President and Service Coordinator of the NAACP, and Clinic Manager at Mercy Health Clinic.Tierra was recently featured on uga.edu, the University’s website, as being an “Amazing Student.”   Learn more about Tierra Jackson in this University spotlight.
