We’re excited to welcome Meggie Gilkey-Banks, PharmD, back to the College of Pharmacy! A UGA graduate for both her undergraduate and pharmacy degrees, Meggie has returned as our Health System Practice Experience Coordinator.

  • Where are you from originally? What brought you to Athens and UGA?
    • I am originally from Charlotte, NC. I came to Athens for undergrad after being dawg fan for my whole life!
  • Where did you receive your training/education?
    • Undergrad – UGA
    • PharmD – UGA CoP
    • PGY1 Acute Care Pharmacy residency – Prisma Health, Greenville, SC
  • How did you become interested in your chosen field/profession? What are your areas of interest and expertise?
    • Exposure to precepting and mentoring students during residency revealed my interest in being in a learning environment. Areas of interest include hospital administration and chronic disease management like heart failure and diabetes.
  • What previous, relatable job experiences do you bring to your new position at CoP?
    • Not long ago, I was as student!
  • Why were you interested in applying for this position and coming to CoP/UGA?
    • Being able to contribute to pharmacy education and give back to the university and program that made me a pharmacist.
  • What will you be responsible for in your new position?
    • Macon region APPE Coordinator, Health System IPPE II Coordinator
  • Personal information you would like to share:
    • I was on the Georgette dance team when I was a student.
    • I got married on September 6th, 2025 to my husband, Turner, who I met in Athens 5 years ago. We have a boykin spaniel named Benji!
