Tom Heard, BS Pharm ’83, PharmD, BCGP presented a poster publication at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) meeting in National Harbor, MD in October 2025 on Social Determinants of Health and Migraine Management: A Real-World Analysis. Tom worked with an AMCP/Pfizer Intern Pharmacy Student and Pfizer Medical colleague to complete the project. Tom also serves as the UGA Pharmacy School AMCP Diplomat for the student affiliate. Tom celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary in 2024 to his bride Beth (BS Pharm ’85). Tom and Beth have three adult children, each who are married, and 7 grandchildren.
Patrick Whiddon, BS Pharm ’86 was named a We Are Champions civilian awardee for his hard work, discipline, and consistent effort serving at the Moncrief Army Health Clinic in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
Terri Lynn Beck, BS Pharm ’90 is working full-time with Emerald Coast Infectious Disease Medical Group at Synergy Pharmacy.
David Moore Sr., BS Pharm ’92 has retired.
Tara L. Smith, BS Pharm ’94 was awarded Fellow of Pediatric Pharmacy Association (FPPA) in April 2025.
Stephen Huber, BS Pharm ’97 retired from United States Army service in May 2025.
Katie Scanlon, PharmD ’07 has been promoted to Vice President of Pharmacy at Publix Super Markets, effective February 1. Scanlon began her Publix career in 2007 as a floating pharmacist in Sandy Springs, Ga. and was promoted to assistant pharmacy manager the same year. She was elevated to pharmacy manager in 2009 and transferred to support in 2012 as a clinical pharmacist. After holding various positions, Scanlon was promoted to director of central and specialty pharmacy in 2018 and to her current role, senior director of pharmacy administration, in 2020. She is the recipient of Publix 2023 President’s Award, one of the company’s most prestigious honors, which recognizes leaders who actively perpetuate a culture of inclusion, foster a sense of belonging, and champion the development and advancement of all associates.
Lydia Newsom, PharmD ’12 is the new chair-elect of the Pharmacy Practice section of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Dr. Newsom serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Mercer University College of Pharmacy.
Justin Moore, PharmD ‘18, MS, BCPS, BCIDP recently received the 2025 Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). Currently, Dr. Moore is a practice coordinator for the Antimicrobial and Diagnostic Stewardship Program and an infectious diseases clinical pharmacist at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, IL. A member of the ASHP Council on Pharmacy Practice as well as the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists Clinical Leadership Advisory Group, Dr. Moore previously served as the Chair of the New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee.
