Vaishnavi “V” Thakare, Educational Research Analyst

  • Where are you from originally? What brought you to Athens and UGA?
    • I’m originally from India. I came to Athens to pursue graduate studies at the University of Georgia, drawn by UGA’s strong academic reputation, collaborative research environment, and opportunities to apply technology to real-world problems. Over time, Athens has become home both professionally and personally.
  • Where did you receive your training/education?
    • I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Savitribai Phule Pune University and my Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Georgia. My training focused on data analytics, machine learning, and applied research, with strong emphasis on practical, real-world applications.
  • How did you become interested in your chosen field/profession? What are your areas of interest and expertise?
    • I have always been naturally curious about data and numbers, asking questions like why something happened and what the data is really saying beneath the surface. Over time, that curiosity turned into a passion for data analytics and applied AI, especially as I saw how thoughtfully analyzed data can directly improve decision-making in areas like healthcare and education. I enjoy working with data not just to analyze it, but to tell a clear story through it. My interests and expertise include data visualization, business intelligence, educational and healthcare analytics, machine learning, and translating complex information into insights that people can actually use.
  • What previous, relatable job experiences do you bring to your new position at CoP? Did you work at other locations on campus?
    • Prior to this role, I worked in several positions across UGA, including roles within the School of Social Work and the School of Pharmacy. As a student and graduate research assistant, I supported data cleaning, analysis, reporting, and dashboard development using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, and Qualtrics. These experiences provided me with a strong understanding of UGA systems, faculty needs, and cross-unit collaboration.
  • Why were you interested in applying for this position and coming to CoP/UGA?
    • I was drawn to this position because it combines data analytics with meaningful impact in an academic setting. The College of Pharmacy’s focus on assessment, continuous improvement, and data-informed decision-making closely aligns with my interests and professional goals. I was excited by the opportunity to support faculty and leadership through analytics that directly influence teaching, assessment, and strategic planning.
  • What will you be responsible for in your new position?
    • In my role, I support data analysis, reporting, and dashboard development related to course evaluations, faculty metrics, and academic outcomes across the College of Pharmacy. I collaborate closely with faculty and administrators to ensure data is accurate, accessible, and meaningful. A key part of my work involves transforming complex data into clear, intuitive insights that help inform academic planning, assessment, and strategic decision-making throughout the College.
  • Personal information you would like to share?
    • Town in which you currently reside: Athens,GA
    • Outside interests/hobbies: Outside of work, I enjoy reading, paint-by-numbers, and cooking—three hobbies that let me slow down, be creative, and recharge.
    • Family, including animals and pets: My family is based in India my mom, my dad, and I stay closely connected with them despite the distance.
  • Contact info at the College
  • Anything else you would like to share with your new PharmDawg colleagues??
    • I’m excited to officially join the College of Pharmacy and become part of such a collaborative community. I look forward to working with faculty and staff across the College, and I’m always happy to connect, brainstorm, or help with data and analytics needs.
