To gain a better understanding of addiction treatment and the patient experience, 23 UGA College of Pharmacy students participated in an immersive Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program during their spring break. A collaboration of Emory Healthcare and the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation through the Addiction Alliance of Georgia, the five-day training allowed Georgia college students to observe evidence-based care, interprofessional education, opioid response, and residential clinical treatment—providing insight to care for patients once they enter practice. Participating students were split between two locations for the training—one in Rancho Mirage, CA and the other in Newberg, OR. Organizers of the event commented, “It was a pleasure to have your fantastic…pharmacy students participate with us this week.”
