The College of Pharmacy would like to welcome our new Major Gifts Officer Gordon Thomas. Gordon’s role in the Office of Development & Alumni Relations will focus philanthropic fund raising for the College.
A graduate of Georgia College & State University, Gordon earned his B.A. in History in 2012. Upon graduating, Gordon began working with Georgia College, University Archives, overseeing collections and actively working with local constituent groups to acquire new collections. During his time in Milledgeville, Gordon became an active volunteer with Baldwin County’s Relay For Life; where he was Program Lead. In this role he coordinated and planned the yearly event and actively fundraised for the cause.
In 2016, Gordon came to the University of Georgia to work as the Annual Giving Officer at the College of Veterinary Medicine. In two years, Gordon helped increase donations and solicited for President’s Club Level Giving, helping the college achieve million dollar annual giving totals. Beginning in 2018, Gordon was promoted to Major Gifts Officer at the college, where he worked the territories south of I-20 in Georgia and other states such as; South Carolina and West Virginia. His tenure as a major gift officer with the College of Veterinary Medicine culminated in over $3.5 million raised for student scholarships, faculty positions, research and facility enhancements.
When Gordon is not working, he enjoys watching baseball (Braves and Dawgs); UGA football; cooking; seeing live music (please let him know who you are listening to these days!); watching stand-up comedy and leading bourbon tastings with fellow bourbon/whiskey enthusiasts.
