(Athens, Ga.) The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) will host the 19th annual Pharmtoberfest Health Fair on Thursday, October 21, 2021.
The event will take place from 11am to 2pm on the D.W. Brooks Mall, in front of the College of Pharmacy and adjacent to the Science Learning Center. Sponsored by Kroger, this event is open to all UGA faculty, staff, and students as well as the local community.
This event gives participants the opportunity to be screened for high blood pressure, high blood sugar, HIV, Hepatitis C, and body mass index. Flu shots also will be available through the University Health Center. Interested participants should bring their insurance card. Kaiser health plans will not be accepted. The price if uninsured or out of network is $50.
Student health groups from across campus also will be in attendance to provide information on breast cancer awareness, diabetes, high blood pressure, immunizations, sexually transmitted diseases, alcohol education, over-the-counter medication safety, safe drug disposal, bone marrow donation, and more.
“Along with health screenings, flu shots, and health promotions, we also will have some fun fall festival-themed games, a pumpkin painting contest, and a visit from Hairy Dawg,” said Maddie Marsh, President of UGA’s chapter of APhA-ASP. “After missing last year, we are super excited for this year’s event! We encourage the entire university community to get healthy and have some fun at this year’s Pharmtoberfest.”
Parking is available in UGA’s South Campus and Carlton Street Decks. For more information, contact Maddie Marsh.
