Dr. Chris McCurdy ’98, 2022 Distinguished Alumnus

Chris McCurdy  ’98

Dr. McCurdy is a broadly-trained medicinal chemist, behavioral pharmacologist, and pharmacist whose research focuses on the design, synthesis, and development of drugs to treat pain and drug abuse. He currently serves as a professor at the University of Florida, where he has been voted Teacher of the Year three times by different pharmacy classes. Dr. McCurdy has received almost $30 million in extramural funding, and his work on treating and managing addiction is internationally recognized. Additionally, Dr. McCurdy serves as the director of the UF Translational Drug Development Core and the Co-Chair of the Special Interest Group on Drug Design and Discovery (DDD) of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). Dr. McCurdy previously served as President of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS).  A feature story about Dr. McCurdy was published by the UGA College of Pharmacy in fall, 2022.  Read his story here.
