Kate O’Reilly Is New College of Pharmacy’s Director of Development

Kate O’Reilly, a 17-year veteran of fundraising and alumni programs at the University of Georgia, has been named Senior Director of Development at the College of Pharmacy, announced Dean Kelly Smith.

“Kate’s experience and proven track record will be significant assets in our plans to take the College of Pharmacy to the next level in our development, fundraising, and alumni engagement efforts,” said Dean Smith. “We are pleased that she has joined us, and we look forward to the leadership and direction she will provide these key areas at our College.”

Kate assumes her new position June 15. In her role, she will be responsible for oversight of all fundraising efforts, including principal, leadership, major, annual, and planned giving, along with overall leadership for alumni relations and development functions. She will lead current staff members Gordon Thomas, Major Gifts Officer, and Kim Hamby, Director of Alumni Relations.

Prior to her appointment, Kate was associated with UGA’s School of Law for 10 years , working in various capacities, including Director of Alumni Relations, Major Gifts Officer, and finally as Director of Development. During her tenure, she was instrumental in cultivating and acquiring philanthropic support that allowed Georgia Law to have its highest ($17.1M in FY19) and second highest ($11.2M in FY18) fundraising years in its history. Before her affiliation with the School of Law, Kate was Director of Development at the College of Public Health. She also has earlier work experiences in regional leadership roles with the American Heart Association and as an educator in Clarke County.

Kate received her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Presbyterian College in South Carolina and later her Master of Education in Early Childhood Education from UGA.  She and her husband, Steven, live in Oconee County with their two sons, Bart and George.
