Undergraduate Student Morgan Gibbs Awarded 2017 Goldwater Scholarship

Undergraduate student Morgan Gibbs has just received the prestigious 2017 Barry Goldwater Scholarship, the highest undergraduate award of its type for the fields of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering. This is the first time a College of Pharmacy student has received this honor. A UGA junior from Peachtree City minoring in pharmaceutical sciences and a student researcher in Dr. Arthur Roberts’ lab here at the college, Morgan plans to obtain a doctorate in medicinal chemistry and will pursue a career in the interdisciplinary field of drug discovery and design. In Dr. Roberts’ lab, she studies drug-protein interactions with the multi-drug resistance transporter protein P-glycoprotein. Morgan is one of only 240 students nationwide to receive this honor in 2017 and one of only two from the UGA campus. For more of her story, see http://news.uga.edu/releases/article/2017-goldwater-scholars/ and http://www.uga.edu/.

Morgan, we are so proud of you! Congratulations!
